Performance Artist, Brady Collins appears for the musical evening of Berlin style 1920's Cabaret
After their last SOLD-OUT run, The Wild Stage returns to Pittsburgh, this time for their immersive show, Tantalized. Cabaret artists, Brady Collins (soprano) and Matthew Lorenz (pianist), take audiences on a journey through 1920’s Berlin in this musical and dramatic show. Pittsburgh’s CBS Live has hailed The Wild Stage as “a show, not merely a performance,” so you may find yourself involved in the action as you hum along to the melodies, laugh, and learn a little German. “Sprechen sie Deutsch” anyone? You may even find that the effects of urbanization in Berlin in the 1920’s were not so different from our experiences today. Special guest performances by Sienna Dalessandro (mezzo soprano) and Nicole Lennartz (violinist) on certain evenings.
Brady Collins is a multi-faceted artist working in the industry as a classical, jazz, and cabaret vocalist, a stage director, and producer. She is the owner and Artistic Director of The Wild Stage. Brady received an Advanced Research Fellowship from Roosevelt University in Chicago in 2020 to research literary Kabaretts of 1920’s Germany. Since that grant, Brady has been merging her musicological work with performance and outreach. Brady recently returned from Texas as a production assistant with Brian Clowdus Experiences working on an immersive new performance iteration of Charlotte’s Web. Brady is slated to be the resident director at Opera North this summer. She also regularly performs jazz standards in Pittsburgh venues as part of her duo, Collins and Kapp. Brady has recently appeared in the operatic roles of Zerlina (Don Giovanni), Cinderella (Viardot’s Cendrillon) and Edith (Pirates of Penzance).
Matthew has been with The Wild Stage since its inception. Matthew’s performance experience as a pianist extends from Bismarck, ND to Santa Rosa, NM, then Paris; and beyond. Currently active in Chicago, IL, he is just concluding his Master’s degree at the Chicago College of Performing Arts (in Roosevelt University), and moving on to CCPA’s Performance Diploma (PD) where he studies with Edward Auer, Junghwa Auer, and Adam Neiman. Often described as a “powerful” player with a unique perspective on the “big picture” of his music, Matthew also brings a heartfelt sensitivity and attention to detail that makes him just as comfortable playing Bach and Schubert as he does in Rachmaninov and Liszt. An open mind and an interest in the community of musicians allows him to explore music outside of the mainstream repertoire and programming, with past concerts including all-Ravel salons, Gershwin-Schubert crossovers, and early 20th Century German
